Ty Wooten
Director of Government Affairs, International Academy of Emergency Dispatch
Ty Wooten, ENP, is the Director of Government Affairs for the International Academies
of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) and has worked in public safety for nearly 30 years.
Previously, Ty was the Director of Education for NENA: The 9 ‐ 1 ‐ 1 Association,
overseeing the development and delivery of public safety training for students
worldwide. He currently serves and has served on numerous working groups,
committees, and boards developing the 911 industry technologically and operationally.
Ty began his public safety career as a Communications Officer and held positions in
communications and training over the coming years. In 2008, Ty became the first
Director of the Hancock County (IN) 9 ‐ 1 ‐ 1 Center. He also served as the Director of
the Indianapolis International Airport Communications Center. Before coming to NENA,
Ty was the Principal of Public Safety Consulting and Management, providing consulting
services that included PSAP consolidation, access control, and management planning.
Ty has received instructor certifications from numerous associations, including the
Center for Domestic Preparedness, The National Association of State Fire Marshalls,
and the Florida State Fire Academy. Ty is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame
Executive Management program. He has also held various positions in law
enforcement: as a firefighter, an EMT, and a hostage negotiator.
